This is a pair (2) of vintage wood slotted purse handles that have a scroll design. This is old factory stock, the handles are new and unused, and in excellent condition. I found them stored in the attic of our old fabric store that we recently reopened. There was a small purse-making business in the area several years ago. They measure 7 3/4” wide, 4 1/2” tall, and 1/4” thick. The slot opening is 6 3/4” wide and 1/4” high. The triangle-shaped hand loop measures approximately 4 1/2” x 2 1/2” in size. These handles are stained wood, not plastic, and have a nice scroll pattern cut into them at three locations on the outer side.

These are vintage wooden Bermuda-style hinged purse handles. Each set will make one purse. This is old factory stock, the handles are new and unused, and in excellent condition. I found them stored in the attic of our old fabric store that we recently reopened. There was a small purse-making business in the area several years ago. They measure 8” wide, 5” tall, and 3/4” thick. The opening into the purse is 5” x 3 3/8”. The oval-shaped hand loop measures approximately 4 1/2” x 1 3/4” in size. The small brass hinges are permanently pressed into the wood handles. These handles are stained wood, not plastic.  Each handle has a guideline drawn with white soapstone to indicate the attachment location of a liner, of the type constructed with the Liner Pattern shown below.

The brass hinges are permanently riveted on and designed with a spring action to keep the purse handles open when opened, and securely closed when closed. The metal rods are removable via a small spring inserted into the wood at each end, making it possible to insert the rods into a sleeve in the fabric that you use to complete your purse. These handles are stained wood, not plastic.

These vintage Bermuda Bag covers were produced by The Bag Scene, Inc., back in the 70’s and 80’s. This is old factory stock, the covers are new and unused, and in excellent condition. I found them stored in the attic of our old fabric store that we recently reopened. The Bag Scene, Inc was a small purse-making business in the area several years ago. The covers measure 10” wide, 8” tall, and 2” wide at the bottom. The top opening width is 8”. The four button holes are each 2” apart, and the center of the buttonholes are 1” from the top seam. This cover has a pinkish tone to it and the box is labeled “Wine”. Each cover has a dark blue lining on each side, but no lining in the bottom. The outer fabric is vintage tweed. They are not reversible. These items were stored in bulk in large boxes, and are not individually packaged. These Bermuda Bag Covers are genuine retro, and each one has the original tag on it. They have been stored dry and clean, and have no unpleasant odors to them.

The liner pattern was drawn by me in 2008, to provide a guide for cutting fabric to size for a liner as shown in the sample photo (upper right). NOTE: There are no step-by-step instructions included for completing the liner. The Crafter must decide how to construct their liner, and with what materials/supplies they choose to complete their kit. The completed liner (fabric, bias tape, thread, buttons, staples, etc.) and the construction/assembly of it will have to be provided by the Crafter. An experienced purse-maker should have no trouble completing this liner.

Metal purse crimp-on frames or opening-edge cover sleeves. They measure 7 1/2” long, 2” high, and 1/8” wide (before crimp). The slot where the fabric or leather is to be inserted is 3/16” deep all of the way along the frame. There is no snap lock on these frames, so these were possibly used in conjunction with a magnetic closure, or used on an inside divider. I found them stored in the attic of our old fabric store. There was a small purse-making business in the area several years ago, and these were stored with other purse-making supplies. They’re “bulk” frames (not individually packaged), non-treated bare metal, and all may have a little surface rust on the metal from being stored for years. They will need to be covered, painted, or otherwise treated for use, as the un-treated metal will no doubt rust again if not protected. The photos show the worst of the rust that you can expect, and it is easily removed with steel wool. Sold by the pair.

These vintage 1960’s style white ring-pull heavy duty plastic-tooth (Delrin) separating zippers were made by YKK. This is old factory stock, the zippers are new and unused, and in excellent condition.  I found boxes of them stored in the attic of our old fabric store that we recently reopened.  There was a small purse-making business in the area several years ago, so maybe they made zippered totes or used them in a purse or handbag.  Or perhaps our store’s previous owner picked them up at an auction of a nearby garment factory.  Wherever they came from, they’re good heavy duty zippers that would be great for any number of craft applications.  These have the large heavy duty teeth, and the total width of the zipper is 1 1/2”.  The pull is metal, and the metal ring diameter is 1 1/4” wide. The word “JAPAN” is stamped by the manufacturer on each zipper.  They have been stored dry and clean, and have no unpleasant odors to them.
